Psychic Reading

Over spring break, I visited Phoenix, AZ and to my surprise, there were so many psychics. With only $10 of cash to my name, I told my friends that if I saw a psychic reading for $10, I would do it and write my blog post about it. So of course when I saw the sign offering psychic readings for $10, I had to do it. The woman told me that I had three questions to ask her but she couldn't tell me any more than what I asked her. My friends and I stepped out of the room and got our questions together before going in. She asked me for my name and birthday and for my three questions. The questions I asked were:

1. How do people perceive me when they first meet me?

2. When will I next fall in love romantically?

3. Will I get the job I want after grad school?

When she recited the questions back to me, she flipped over 3 tarot cards for each question and explained what they meant to me. First, she said that my career after school elicited happy and successful cards pointing out that I'm on the right path. While she recited my second question, she flipped over the lover's card and told me that my next serious relationship is on the horizon. She knew that I'd already been through two heartbreaks and said that the next relationship I'm in will be my last. This relationship will start between now and the new year, according to her. Finally, she stated that people view me as a strong individual with a lot of resilience and strength.

Would I pay $10 to be validated again? Absolutely, it basically felt like therapy. After my friends and I left, we discussed what was said to us and if we believed the validity behind it. I've never been much of a person who believes in psychics or occult practices, but I've definitely been thinking about it more with this class. My friends and I wondered if it was truthful because we all got good cards, but I also don't think the psychic would have swayed the cards in our favor for only $10. Furthermore, I've always believed that I'm a strong person and I have been through two heartbreaks, which she knew. Without taking this class, I would have never questioned my skepticism about occult practices and would have never gone to the psychic over spring break. It was a really cool experience and I'm glad I got to share about it.

  1. Thanks for taking the $10 plunge. Considering therapy sessions run about $200, I think you did well with your three questions. I wonder what questions I would ask. I'd have to think about that. I have a Tarot app on my phone, but I never ask any serious questions. thanks for this interesting blog post.
